Equipment Included in Stunning & Bleeding
Equipment | Function |
Water Bath Electric Stunner | Renders birds unconscious via electrified water bath before bleeding |
Bleeding Conveyor Line | Holds birds suspended during bleeding; conveys them to next stage |
How the Stunning Process Works
The water bath electric stunner is the entry point of the slaughter line. Live birds are hung on the conveyor and pass through an electrified water bath. The voltage and pool height are adjustable to suit different bird breeds and sizes, ensuring consistent stunning across the entire batch.
Proper stunning reduces bird stress before bleeding, minimizes meat quality degradation caused by stress reactions and supports humane handling practices that are important for both product quality and industry standards.
The Bleeding Process
After stunning, birds enter the bleeding conveyor line. The conveyor holds each bird in a suspended position while blood drains completely from the body over approximately 2–3 minutes.
The bleeding conveyor line features a horizontal structure with a T-shaped guide rail, food-grade stainless steel hanging plates and airbag tensioning that keeps the conveyor chain at the correct tension. Running speed is adjustable to meet the specific bleeding time required by your process.
Why Stunning & Bleeding Quality Matters
Incomplete stunning or inadequate bleeding leads to stress-induced meat quality degradation, reduced shelf life and poor appearance. Henger's stunning and bleeding equipment is designed to eliminate these issues by delivering consistent, humane and thorough results across every batch.
The smooth, continuous workflow from stunning to bleeding reduces handling stress on birds and ensures operators work in a safe, organized environment throughout the early stages of the slaughter line.
FAQ
Why is proper stunning important in chicken slaughter?
Proper stunning reduces bird stress before bleeding, minimizes meat quality degradation caused by stress reactions and supports humane handling practices that contribute to better product quality and consistent results.
How does the water bath electric stunner work?
Birds pass through an electrified water bath as they are conveyed through the machine. Voltage and pool height are adjustable to suit different bird breeds and sizes, ensuring consistent stunning across the batch before the bleeding process begins.
How long does the bleeding process typically take?
The bleeding process takes approximately 2–3 minutes. Conveyor speed can be adjusted to meet specific process requirements and ensure thorough blood removal from every bird.
